Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB)
Stellate ganglion named due to it resembles STAR shape. Also called Cervico-thoracic ganglion. This ganglion is a collection of nerves located near first rib in neck.
When this injection required?
In Chronic neuropathic pain is a condition where stellate ganglion send signals to brain. So causes severe pain of face, neck & upper limbs. Seen severe pain in below conditions.
- Complex regional pain syndrome of head & upper limbs.
- Peripheral vascular disease.
- Post herpetic neuralgia(herpes zoster infection).
- Hyperhidrosis.
- Orofacial pain.
- Frost bite.
