Nerve blocks help to treat many different types of pain.

1. CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME (MEDIAN NERVE COMPRESSION)
Wrist is made up of many small bones(carpal bones)&ligaments. 3 major nerves( MEDIAN NERVE/ULNAR NERVE/RADIAL NERVE)controls touch, pain & temperature of fore arm & hand. Carpal tunnel is a narrow passage in wrist through which median nerve travels.
Median nerve gets compressed during this course.
SYMPTOMS
- pain in hands, wrist or forearm.
- Numbness & burning sensation.
- Pins & needle sensation.
- Weakness of hand/wrist.
2. MERALGIA PARESTHETICA
Lateral cutaneous nerve present at outer side of thigh. Compression /squeezing of this nerve causes numbness tingling burning sensation, reduced sensation or increased sensitivity even to light touch on outer side of thigh called meralgia paresthetica.
CAUSES
- obesity
- Pregnancy
- injury to nerve.
- Diseases( diabetes)
TREATMENTS
- Pharmacotherapy.
- Image guided Selected nerve blocks under ultra sound/fluoroscopy.
- Supportive therapy.
